OREGON'S PROSPEROUS NEW GREEN ENERGY FUTURE! AN INTRODUCTION TO: "The 2012 Oregon Renewable Energy and Fuel Development and Security Act." This Act implements long-dormant “Article XI-D State Power Development” which was added to the Oregon Constitution by citizen’s initiative by the Oregon State Grange in 1932 before the federal dams on the Columbia River. This Act calls for statewide election of the constitutionally mandated three member non-partisan OREGON ENERGY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. This Act activates the only political and economic framework mandated by the Oregon Constitution to create a Green Energy Future of locally owned and controlled resources and utilities to keep economic benefits of energy development in our local communities. This Act lists the purposes, powers and tools of the OREGON ENERGY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. Policies, programs and projects will be decided upon by the three elected commissioners in open public meetings accessible on-line. The OREGON ENERGY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION is empowered to: 1. Keep economic benefits of energy development in our local communities. Oregon Energy for Oregon. 2. Develop Safety Plans and Reliable Grids for Emergencies. Develop Reliable Power Grid to avoid California style blackouts. Expand the grid for new renewable energy developments. Develop emergency plans for terrorism and storms, to avoid prolonged or permanent loss of power such as followed Hurricane Katrina. 3. Develop Neglected Energy Conservation, Efficiency and Storage Systems. 4. Develop Green Energy: responsible and community friendly solar, wind, geothermal, co-generation, fuel cells and other new technologies and systems to stop using coal, oil, gas and nuclear power. Work for de-centralized appropriate technology systems. 5. Develop Distributed On-site Energy Generation and delivery systems. 6. Develop Oregon Non-fossil Fuels, biomass, ethanol, and hydrogen to fuel and heat homes, business and industry. 7. Institute Net Energy and Net Economic Benefit Analysis of Existing and Future Energy Development to ensure local economic benefit without disrupting existing local industry and businesses. 8. Implement Information Transparency by examining our energy programs and utilities in open public Oregon Energy Development Commission hearings and meetings. Post commission information and budgets on-line. 9. Provide Oregonians with Tools for Public Power, Municipal Utilities, People’s Utility Districts and Co-operatives to eliminate the middlemen and gain local voter-ratepayer ownership of the systems and their economic benefits and local control and planning. |

| WELCOME TO OREGON ENERGY FOR OREGON! KEEP THE LIGHTS ON OREGON! The Fukushima Japan nuclear disaster and the dangers of many aging American nuclear power plants is creating a global emergency. It is imperative to act at this time to save earth and mankind. As a result Oregon Energy for Oregon is placing this crisis at the forefront temporarily ahead our historic campaign to provide for local control of our future renewable energy resources and our utilities. Our first effort is a national petition to "Repeal the Price-Anderson Act" and make nuclear plant owners liable to us for the risks and dangers posed by continued operation of U.S. nuclear plants sponsored by John Bartels, former Commissioner of the Eugene Water and Electric Board and Dr. Helen Caldicott, a leading international expert regarding the medical dangers of nuclear radiation. Petition Congress and the President today urging them to repeal the Price-Anderson Act. Open Letter to Members of the United States Congress from Dr. Helen Caldicott, an experienced medical professional, and former Member Eugene Oregon Water and Electric Board, John Bartels. This Fukushima is the nuclear power catastrophe we and countless others have anticipated since the nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl. We call upon Members of the United States Congress and President Obama to repeal the Price-Anderson Act that throws liability for nuclear disasters onto taxpayers and utility rate payers and legislates financial limits on that liability. We are overriding our instincts, as an experience health professional and electric utility executive, to engage again in all the arguments against the basically misrepresented nuclear power industry. We know from "all-too-familiar" experience that this debate is not winnable against the multi-billion dollar industry arrayed against us. We insist elected representatives finally throw the debate into the marketplace where it belongs. Is nuclear power a good investment? Let the market mechanisms decide. Our officials don't have to explain, rationalize or obfuscate. Just vote "yes" or "no." Let the truth come out so citizens of the world can finally judge on the facts. Signed: Dr. Helen Caldicott and John Bartels What is the Price-Anderson Nuclear Industries Indemnity Act? Click Here. SIGN THE PETITION IMMEDIATELY!
